LED Photon Light Therapy for Hair Restoration
We briefly mentioned this earlier but LED light therapy – in particular RED light has been found to help promote hair growth in both men and women.
When light therapy is applied to a target area – in this case, your scalp – it has been found to increase blood flow to wherever it is being applied. The specific wavelength of the RED light is 620-650 nm which will stimulates the mitochondria (the energy centres of our cells) resulting in cells that become much more active. When this happens, the cells metabolize faster, resulting in more blood flow.
More blood flow means that more oxygen, platelets, and other healing properties that our hearts naturally produce get applied to help “heal” the affected area. The end result is a happier, healthier scalp, and more often than not, thicker, healthier hair as well.
We have trialled this in the past using a micro-current comb with LED light and had great success both on women undergoing chemotherapy and ethnic women who were suffering hair loss from years of braiding. During our trials we combed through the hair with the micro-current on its lowest setting using red light for 30 minutes per session.
